Jacob Epstein 1880-1959

Jacob Epstein was an American born sculptor who mainly practiced in Britain, where he helped to pioneer modern sculpture. Epstein’s often avant guarde work is characterised by rough massive forms in either bronze or stone. He is best known for bronze portrait heads often rougly textured and detailed. His larger works are more expressive and experimental.
